Keeping Track of Shirley #1

A draft of an email I wrote to my boss / owner-of-company:

Hey, so I’m just writing this as a backup for when I eventually either go to prison, or maybe if I can keep my fingers crossed, a mental institution.
I heard a passive, loud enough for people to hear comment from Shirley. I split the Lowe’s receipts so that they’re easier to scan and retain an 8-1/2×11 regular paper size. I am surmising that Shirley doesn’t like that. So, in a very audible tone, “I really wish he didn’t tear these part.” Again, these are cut in the middle. They are not mangled. It’s obvious the two pieces are a continuation. I wouldn’t have cut these, but  Alan gave me a Coastal Station receipt again by mistake where I started to cut and paste to make ready for scanning in a way that works for me. I think that makes three times I’ve done this to receipts I give to Shirley.
Listen, it just took a lot of me to not say anything more to her, other than to go up to see her, apologize and tell her I would endeavor not to do it again.
^^^^ You know, I actually debated putting the project cost to one of my projects, because that would be easier, but then I got scared that you, or Shirley, would see that and think I was incompetent, or careless.
This is also why I always give a very visible pause when you give me something that is for a project / job that Shirley is working on.
Listen, I get it. I’d personally hate it if I was getting an email like this. You might even hate me for it. COMPLETELY understood. I just need to write this out, and write it to you specifically so that a jury of my peers know I was serious about trying to document this.
This is also what I meant back at the end of June. She cannot take anything that is not done her way. I can only imagine she’s crying in her office right now because of frustration that there are projects out there that she’s not in control of – and they are not being done her way. And I don’t mean that as a slander, to say she is crying; I mean that as she is distraught. But Jesus Christ, I just want to scan things not at her piece-of-garbage Capture Perfect software station from 2013.
I will always offer the ability to transition back to whatever you feel is best for Whayland and gives you the least amount of headache. I sincerely like you Steve, and I just want to help.
And I don’t mean this as an ultimatum, I don’t like doing that. But, If I’m still having to deal with what-did-i-do-to-Shirley-now by March of 2024, I think it might be best for me to find something where my work efficiencies are not such a detriment to a fellow employee. I understand having to do things a “certain way,” but I believe these types of ways-of-work from Shirley are beyond the pale. I think that if we had a third party come in, they would agree with me.
And once again, if it comes to that, I will give you as much time as you are willing to have me around if you feel like there’s a transition period necessary. I will also accept if you are sick of my face and want me outta here immediately.
And as I’ve said multiple times before, I want to make you proud to have me work with here at Whayland, and work here with you, but I think I have a right to stand up and document what I think is obtuse, awkward, and strict behavior from someone defending a non-efficient workflow.
